Green Infrastructure

Green Infrastructure

We define Green Technologies as follows:

  • Reduce carbon emissions
  • Resource efficiency
  • Social Inclusion
  • On the basis of the abovementioned, we view our infrastructure as a living The implication is that we aim to be on the forefront of sustainable infrastructure development.
Progress with regards to development is as follows

Progress with regards to development is as follows

  • Zone 1 Civil Infrastructure is 80% Complete
  • Quantum V3 on Zone 1 to break ground soon
  • EGL Building refurbishment to begin October 2024
  • Applications for Zone 2 & 3 Civil Infrastructure & the Green Manufacturing Hub have been submitted to the DTIC.
The ASEZCo embraces green technology in every aspect of our development.

The ASEZCo embraces green technology in every aspect of our development.

  • Net-Zero Carbon
  • Net-Zero Water
  • Zero waste to landfill
  • Working with nature
  • Promoting social inclusion
Green Infrastructure
Progress with regards to development is as follows
  • Civil construction on Zone 1 is 40% complete
  • The first facility (Quantum V3) on Zone 1 is breaking ground in April 2024.
  • The EGL Building will be refurbished by July 2024.
  • The applications for Zone 2 and 3 civil infrastructure and the Green Manufacturing Hub have been submitted to the DTIC.
The ASEZCo embraces green technology in every aspect of our development. We define green technology as follow
  • Reduces carbon
  • Resource efficient Socially inclusive on the basis of this,
  • We view our infrastructure development as a living laboratory.
  • The implication is that we aim to be on the forefront of sustainable infrastructure development.

Living Lab

Our Living Lab, nestled within the ASEZ, serves as a pioneering showcase of Greentech industrial practices and services. Designed to exemplify the possibilities and complexities of operating a green zone, it offers invaluable insights into reducing carbon emissions, enhancing resource efficiency, and fostering social inclusivity. Investors benefit from lowered service costs, heightened energy and water security, and coveted green production certifications. Meanwhile, the community reaps rewards through inclusive employment opportunities and skill development initiatives. The Lab’s multifaceted goals encompass carbon reduction, policy testing, and knowledge sharing to propel sustainable industrialization forward. With a focus on collaboration and innovation, we strive to shape a future where sustainable practices are the cornerstone of industrial development, nurturing both prosperity and ecological harmony.

Net Zero Water

Net Zero Water

The civil designs for Zone 1 have included storm water swales and retention ponds. The Quantum V3 structure (the first factory) has a rainwater harvesting system, greywater reuse system and permeable paving included in the design. These features increase the amount of water infiltrating into the catchment and the amount of water that can be re-used.
Net Zero Carbon

Net Zero Carbon

The civil designs have included bicycle lane to promote the use of bicycles in Zone 1. A small portion of the sidewalk is earmarked for solar paving, which will contribute to the amount of energy generated from renewable resources. The Quantum V3 structure has 62% of the roof covered in solar panels, which will supply a considerably amount of the factory’s required energy. The remainder of the roof is to be constructed with clear polycarbonate sheeting, reducing the amount of alternative lighting required. Certain portions of the structure are to be built with hempcrete, which is a carbon-negative building material. Lastly, landscaping is an important aspect of the facility, increasing the its carbon-absorption.
Net Zero Waste to Landfill

Net Zero Waste to Landfill

A portion of Zone 1 is earmarked for a future waste sorting facility. The Quantum V3 building also has a dedicated waste management area included in the design.
Working with Nature

Working with Nature

Alien vegetation clearing and Search and Rescue of Indigenous plants was done prior to construction of Zone 1. There is a significant portion of the civil contract allocated to landscaping, which will focus on restoring indigenous vegetation in disturbed areas. On the boundary of Zone 1 and the GRI factory, indigenous vegetation will also be planted to stabilise the embankment. As mentioned above, the Quantum V3 facility will include landscaping, which entails establishing indigenous vegetation on the premises.
